Our Goal

The primary goals of the service are to acknowledge the current strengths of each individual served and to assist them in determining their own functional and desired skill improvement needs. Ability Road, Inc. and each individual served will develop objective measurement of skill areas determined to be of highest priority and together will create individualized goals and objectives (Individual Service Plan-ISP) that will facilitate the individual’s progress from initial ability level to an outcome, to be demonstrated, and then objectively measured. The individual will be assisted to reexamine their needs at that point and will prioritize future goals. The tools that will be utilized in determining individual need will be the community, vocational and social sections of the Quality of Life Survey, a Behavioral Survey and a Person Centered Service Plan Workbook.
The second, but equally important, goal of the service will be exposing each individual to a number of work environments in the local community and allowing every opportunity for the individual to experience and practice skills related to these jobs. The individual will then be able to determine the types of jobs that best suit them and their skill sets. The service will at that point facilitate job search and development activities, including, but not limed to, resume building, reference acquisition, specific skill building, and submission of applications, community outreach, relationship networking, job customization, advocacy and unpaid internships.
As a product of the above endeavors or as a formal goal, if necessary for individual quality of life, each individual will increase their knowledge and utilization of community resources, they will increase their participation in the community, both socially and functionally and will experience pride in giving back to the community by way of various volunteer commitments, giving the individual true to life work experience and practical work skills as well as self confidence and a sense of accomplishment. The ultimate goal for those desiring to work would be paid direct employment.
